Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the therapy sessions take place?

The sessions take place in my purpose-built therapy room here in Portishead.  There is no waiting room and clients are booked in leaving enough time between clients, to ensure privacy.  The room provides a relaxing and calming environment in a private setting.

What are your opening hours?

Appointments are flexible - I offer both evening and early morning appointments, meeting my clients' needs wherever possible.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is bringing the conscious and subconscious together in a trance state. It can be called trance state or merely a day dream.  We go in to trance, on average every 6-7 minutes.

We can be in trance whilst driving a car, watching TV or doing repeated tasks.  We talk about being ‘on automatic pilot’ or ‘being in the zone’. During trance the brain is working much harder than in other states.  The experience on the couch is deeply relaxing, your body will feel heavy, yet your mind will feel quite light.

During hypnotherapy you are at your optimum resting point, so all suggestions that are solution focused and positive will be taken on board.  You'll then be able to action a plan once you return to your day-to-day activities.

What can Counselling help?

Talking therapy can support individuals with all kinds of situations.  It can help people cope with bereavement, relationship difficulties, anxiety, work stress, different traumas, personal problem solving and much more.
